About Eileen

I am a professor with over ten years of experience teaching college writing, including at Wellesley College and Harvard University, where I was given a teaching award for my first-year writing course. I am also a published writer and translator of Latin American literature.

Each year, I coach a select group of college applicants because I love helping students transform the challenge of writing their essays into an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. I recognize that every student has a unique learning and writing style, and enjoy tailoring my coaching to meet individual needs.

I believe writing is one of the best tools for self-discovery, and I try to share that love with my clients. In fact, I often find myself learning and discovering something new right alongside them.

Our coaching relationship is not just about finishing an essay—it’s a partnership and a shared experience, one that I value deeply as both an educator and a lifelong learner and writer.

My Education:

I hold a BA from Harvard University, an MA with distinction from New York University, and a PhD from University College Cork, where my doctoral studies were fully funded by a fellowship from the Irish government. Learn more about my teaching, scholarship, writing and translation here.
